After upsetting the world his his brilliant, dark and stunning Antichrist, Lars Von Trier is now back to destroy the world! His latest Melancholia intends to do exactly that, but being a Von Trier film, things will not be as simple as a straight forward disaster flick. No, Von Trier will no doubt have something up his sleeve to upset the general movie going public.

I like Von Triers work, he is a brave filmmaker with guts and passion and even after seeing the trailer, I have no doubt that this film will not be as tame as it looks. He has assembled a stunning cast too, including Jack Bauer!!! (sorry, Kiefer Sutherland), Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Stellan Skarsgard, Alexander Skarsgard and the first woman to ever come back for a second experience with Von Trier, Charlotte Gainsbourg (a brave move after what he put her through in Antichrist!!). Thuis has to be the biggest cast he has ever worked with in terms of big star names, so hopefully the film will get Von Trier the respect he deserves.

The film tells the tale of two sisters and how their relationship changes due to an un-welcome event that is just a small matter of another planet about to collide with the Earth! Supposedly the planet has been ‘hiding’ and has now decided to show itself and is on a collision course with Earth. Intriguing!

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
