The Expendables 2 has a director!!

Great news action fans, The Expendables 2 has finally found its director!! Stallone has decided to just star in this sequel to the hugely popular action film from last year, and joining Stallone will be pretty much all the guys from the first movie, but names are still waiting to be confirmed. Even Jean Claude Van Damme will be making an appearance in the sequel as a bad guy (awesome!!).

The man who has to somehow control this bunch of meatheads will be Simon West, the fella who gave us the rather excellent Con Air, and also directed The Generals Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls, The Mechanic and the upcoming Red Sonja remake. The good thing is the guy has plenty of experience so, as long as he can keep his cast in order, this could turn out to be a very good sequel. Here is the synopsis, but be aware, it may contain spoilers:

“The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They’re not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.”

The movie is due to hit UK cinemas August 17th 2012.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i’m a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn’t bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
