Today is a good day for Ridley Scott’s ‘is it or isn’t it’ Alien prequel, Prometheus. Not only has the legendary director offered a little insight into his movie in a recent interview, but we also have not one, but TWO teaser trailers for you!

Recently interviewed by Filmophilia, Scott had this to say about the film connection to Alien:

I mean, you could actually say, and there’s a quote I did, a pretty good quote: By the end of the third act you start to realize there’s a DNA of the very first alien, but none of the subsequent aliens. To tell you what that is is a pity, and I’m not going to tell you, because it’s actually pretty good, pretty organic to the process and to the original. But we go back, we don’t go forward.

He then went on to explain a little about the ‘Space Jockey’ from Alien:

I was always amazed that, I mean, I’ve only done two science-fictions, but I was always amazed that no one asked who the hell the Space Jockey was. He wasn’t even called the Space Jockey. During the film they started to call it the Space Jockey. I don’t know who started that one off. I always thought it was amazing that no one ever asked who he was, and why was he there? What was all that about? I sat thinking about this for a while and thought, well, there’s a story! And the other four [films] missed it! So, here it is.

On H.R Giger’s involvement:

I brought him in, I showed him what we were doing, showed him the story, and he liked it a lot,” said Scott. “So he’s doing a little bit of work for me. He’s been doing some murals, big murals, which we’ll see in almost one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we’re gonna go.

And finally, on the Xenomorphs, will we be seeing them?

No. Absolutely not,” states Scott before joking, “They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

In further Prometheus news, a teaser trailer ‘for the trailer’ arrived yesterday! That’s right, in a way to combat the leaked trailer which appeared a few weeks ago, a trailer has been released announcing when the official trailer will arrive, check it out below.

And in yet more news, a second teaser trailer for the official trailer arrived a few hours ago, that too can be seen below. Enjoy!!

Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, and Patrick Wilson all star in the film scheduled for release in UK cinemas on 1st June 2012.

Synopsis:

Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With ‘Prometheus’ he creates a groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
