The funniest poster so far of 2012 is here, it’s the Asylum’s ‘American Battleship!!’

I am not sure whether this is an official poster or not, but if it is, then it is bloody funny and should be applauded! The wonderful chaps over at The Asylum have announced their latest mockbuster, this time taking aim at Peter Berg’s big budget action flick, Battleship.

The glorious looking film stars, obviously, Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator) and he can be seen in his best Rocky pose on the cover. Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City, Jaws 4) also stars in the film about aliens invading Earth. No doubt the film will be filled with everything that makes The Asylum so much fun, dodgy special effects, cheesy script and fallen stars having some fun being back in front of the camera. Whether this is rubbish or not, I am there!

Synopsis:

When a fleet of mysterious ships wage war against the Earth, only the crew of the USS Iowa, the last American battleship, can prevent global armageddon.

Joining Solo and Action Jackson will be actress JoHanna Watts (Mutant Vampire Zombies from the Hood!, In Memorium). Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, the writer-director of this Asylum mockbuster is Thunder Levin, the writer-director of Mutant Vampire Zombies from the Hood!

The Asylum’s American Battleship sets sail on DVD/VOD on May 15th, a full 48 hours before Peter Berg’s big budget Hasbro board game-inspired Battleship opens fire on big screens worldwide.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
