Marcus Nispel’s new horror ‘Backmask’ finally begins casting

About a year ago it was announced that Marcus Nispel, the director of remakes Conan the Barbarian, Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, was about to start work on a new horror called Backmask. It was back in June last year that we brought you the first poster for the film (included here at the bottom off this post) and we also shared the rather interesting synopsis. A year later and nothing has really happened with the project, until now…

The first name has been added to the cast: step forward Teen Wolf’s Gage Golightly, he will be playing one of the teens in the horror who may or may not get possessed by some malevolent spirit. Shooting is expected to take place early June in Rhode Island.

The film is written by Kirsten Elms and produced by Steven Schneider (Insidious, Paranormal Activity, The Lords of Salem, The Bay) along with Terry Douglas and Paris Kasidokostas Latsis.

During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
