Young actress Isabelle Fuhrman, who was known as the pint sized woman posing as an orphaned child Esther in Orphan, will be taking the role of Suzie, the lead character in the planned Suspiria remake. This will be a chance for 15 yr old Isabelle, who was recently starred as the equally badass Clove in The Hunger Games, to show a different side to her abilities as Suzie, who travels to a prestigious European school, only to find that it is controlled by a coven of powerful witches.
The remake of Dario Argento’s classic will be directed by Pinapple Express‘ David Gordon Green with a new script by Chris Gebert and is set to start filming this September. There are rumours that the ballet school setting will be dropped, but the school environment will be kept.
We expect further cast and plot information to be revealed over the coming weeks, so stay tuned to HCF for more Suspiria details.
Stop the press! Ross has just shouted across the desk some important new cast info!
Take a breath….here goes……Isabelle Huppert (Amour), Janet McTeer ( The Woman in Black), Michael Nyqvist (Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and Antje Traue (Man of Steel) have been added to the cast list and that should fill your thirst for all things Suspiria even though the thought of it being remade makes our hearts sink in despair.
Producers Luca Guadagnino and Francesco Melzi d’Eril have gone on record and stated this…
“We started to develop ‘Suspiria’ at the time we were preparing ‘I Am Love’ and expect to make another notable film capable of reaching an even much broader international audience.”
