We reported last month that Summit Entertainment’s Highlander remake was looking for its star character, and it was looking like the role of the Highlander himself was going to Ryan Reynolds. It has now been confirmed that Reynolds will indeed star in the film, and follow in the footsteps left by Christopher Lambert.
Is Reynolds a good choice? Well, yes, the man can barely act, and if you check out his embarrassing performance as The Green Lantern, then I am sure you’ll agree that his almost wooden acting will suit the role of Connor MacLeod perfectly. I mean, let’s face it, Lambert’s performance was not exactly Oscar worthy, so it would seem fitting that an ‘actor’ like Reynolds be chosen for the part. With Reynolds in place, it now begs the question as to who will be reprising the role made so effortlessly splendid by Sean Connery?
Intruders and 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has signed on to direct the remake, which was originally written by Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. The film has since been re-written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
More on this as it develops.
