A new Resident Evil: Retribution trailer has hit the web which starts off rather interesting and then descends into the confused chaos of the past three films. I’ll admit I’m quite a fan of the first Resi Evil outing for Paul W.S. Anderson, with the Red Queen, sliced up bodies and James Purefoy, but the subsequent sequels were tiresome, especially the last film which was so confusing with a narrative that was clearly thrown out the window in favour of action scenes. Unfortunately the new trailer indicates much more of the same, except this time Alice, played once again by Milla Jovovich, will be joined Michelle Rodriguez’ character Rain from the original film as well as new character and videogame favourite, Ada Wong (Bingbing Li). Did I mentioned Colin Salmon’s James Shade from the first film will also be returning. Why and how, you ask? Well take a look at the trailer below…
The T-Virus still appears to be going strong with the zombie hordes, including a few new mutated monsters, tearing their way through the city ensuring battle scenes aplenty. The only question is, does anyone care anymore?
In RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, the Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
