Final trailer lands for Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘The Master’

The final, dramatic trailer is here for Paul Thomas Anderson’s highly anticipated and so far highly regarded film, The Master. Early reviews have said nothing but praise for the film which is due for release in UK cinemas 9th November. Check out the stunning trailer at the bottom of this post.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s first film since There Will Be Blood is making the rounds in the US with a number of special screenings ahead of its official US release of 14th September.

There has also been a lot of talk of the film being loosely based on L. Ron Hubbard’s story, he being the man who founded Scientology. The character in the film who it is thought is Hubbard is played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, and while it is still unclear whether the film is indeed about Scientology, Hoffman offered this when speaking with EW recently:

“It’s not the L. Ron Hubbard story. [Scientology] was one of the bigger movements at the time, but there were a lot of movements at that time. There’s nothing about how I’m behaving or talking that echoes [Hubbard]. I thought of a lot of other bigger-than-life personalities, charismatic people like Orson Welles. Joaquin’s character is like a beaten dog, no matter where he goes, [he] gets into severe trouble. And somehow I’m able to deal with him.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
