Yep, best you conjure up some sort of reminder or futuristic calender so that you can mark this date down: May 1st 2015. That is the day director Joss Whedon’s Avengers sequel will arrive, but I am sure there will be a few small reminders along the way so maybe you won’t need to write it down!
Why so long? Well, we still need to allow the craziness of the first film to settle, and not only that, Marvel have not one but TWO big films released per year for the next two years. In 2013 we get Iron Man 3 on May 3rd (production has halted on this by the way due to poor old Robert Downey Jr hurting his ankle) and Thor: The Dark World on 8th November. Then in 2014 we have Captain America: The Winter Soldier on 4th April, and hopefully Guardians of the Galaxy on 1st August. There are also rumours of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man coming sometime in 2014.
So basically Marvel and Disney are pretty busy up until then! Joss Whedon also recently signed a contract to work with Marvel and Disney for three years, with his contract ending in June 2015, so this kind of works out perfectly.
There are no details yet, but what we do know is that Whedon is back to direct, and all your Marvel favourites from the first film will return. However, it is not known who the villain will be, but early rumours are that it could be Thanos. We will keep you posted.
