Just yesterday The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Kristen Stewart had been dropped from Universal’s Snow White & The Huntsman sequel. The news was broke by THR thanks to sources, including a spokeswoman at Universal who said: “The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise”
It was said that the sequel, already planned to possibly focus on ‘The Huntsman’ played by Chris Hemsworth, would be dropping Snow White, or at least Kristen Stewart altogether. The proposed trilogy was always going to focus on The Huntsman for the sequel, and then Charlize Theron’s Evil Queen for the third, but the decision to drop Kristen Stewart came as a massive shock to everyone.
With rumours that director Rupert Sanders may return, it is possible that this fuelled the story? In case you have been living on Mars for the last month, Sanders (who is happily married) had a brief affair with Stewart (who was dating her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson) while making Snow White & The Huntsman. It has also been said that writer David Koepp has also been dropped.
However, Universal denied the story that Stewart had been dropped, with the Co-Chairman Donna Langley issuing this statement last night: “We are extremely proud ofSnow White and the Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false.”
