Last nights MTV Movie Awards delivered all kinds of TV spots, trailers and clips, most of which I will try and cover today (MTV are notorious for not allowing their content played outside of the USA). Thankfully the first trailer on my list is up on on-line and free for all to see, the first trailer for Francis Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The breathtakingly intense trailer really sets the tone for what is expected to be a dark and epic film showing the after effects of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) winning of the 74th Annual Hunger Games. As the winners take part in the victory tour of the districts, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is plotting to somehow get rid of the winners once and for all. This is all shown extremely well in the trailer which shows plenty, but thankfully manages to not spoil anything. We also get a look at newcomer Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee in action.

Also revealed yesterday were two new images from the film which show off returning characters Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), President Snow (Donald Sutherland), Effie Trrinket (Elizabeth Banks) and newcomer Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman).

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

The film will be released worldwide on November 22, 2013, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Jeffrey Wright, with Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

Synopsis:

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark.   Winning means that they must turn around and leave their familyand close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts.  Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
