News continues to trickle in for The Expendables 3, and all seems to be coming from Sylvester Stallone and his new best buddy, Twitter. The action star has been Tweeting all sorts of updates over the months, from desirable cast members to actually revealing Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) as the director a few weeks ago.

Now Stallone has offered some juicy updates to both the cast, and the plan for the film.

Concerning the cast, Stallone offered up the following Tweets, however, while they clearly confirm the return of one major star, the other two Tweets might need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

First of all Stallone confirmed the return of Mickey Rourke by Tweeting:  “Mighty Mickey is back…..”. Now that makes perfect sense, and seeing Rourke back is a very exciting prospect. However, the next two Tweets may, or may not be true.

Everyone knows that Jackie Chan is rumoured to be joining the cast, and while nothing has yet been confirmed, Stallone Tweeted            “What’s the plan? Ask Jackie Chan….”  Ok, so does that mean Chan is involved? Your guess is as good as mine, but I hope so.

Then there is the question of Wesley Snipes. Fresh out of jail, Stallone has often talked of his desire to have Snipes onboard, and it sounds like that just might be happening. “Talked to WESLEY today … He can not WAIT to fight to the top again !!!!!!! Over…”

Stallone also Tweeted about the film itself, and talked of how the intention is to be better than Gareth Evans’ stunning action flick, The Raid. “Thinking about Raiding, THE RAID….think about it…”, he then followed with another Tweet “We believe we can do better than the RAID, which was an excellent film… Raising the bar…”

Mmm, not sure how a bunch of ageing action heroes will be able to deliver the same quick fighting precision seen in The Raid, and I certainly don’t see Stallone doing the sort of moves Iko Uwais did in the film. I am confused as to how exactly The Expendables 3 can be better than The Raid, but I am interested in seeing the results.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
