It’s been a while since we had any updates on Bong Joon-ho’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Snowpiercer. Uusally the updates have been to continue the story of the Weinstein’s cutting twenty minutes from the film, but thankfully today we have some rather more exciting news to share with you.
A Japanese trailer for the film has arrived on-line, and while it does feature footage we have already seen, it also features plenty of new footage too. This should fill the void being left by how long this film is taking to get a release, and sadly there are still no concrete dates to give you.
However, if you live in Japan, then you will be very excited to learn the film will be released in cinemas on February 7th.
Snowpiercer is written and directed by Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Memories of Murder)
The cast includes Song Kang-ho, Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer and Luke Pasqualino. Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Thirst, Stoker) produces.
The film opened on 1st August 2013 in South Korea, but no UK or US release date has been announced yet.
Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
