Jennifer Tilly may not be remembered for being the best actress to ever hit our screens but she has certainly been a successful one. A quick Wiki search will show that she has appeared in 77 movies throughout her career and that does not include her television show appearances either.
For those of us on this website, we are most likely to remember her for her appearances in Bride Of Chucky, Seed Of Chucky and Curse Of Chucky. The ever popular Chucky franchise that followed on from the Childs Play movies many of us saw when we were younger from 1988. She plays Tiffany (or should we say is the voice of Tiffany) and is the bride of the main character Chucky, a possessed toy Chucky doll that loves nothing more than murdering innocent families.
The whole Chucky franchise has been one of fun rather than that of pure horror but they throw up plenty of entertainment and value for the horror fan. Tilly plays her part well as she has done in the majority of her movies to date further proving that despite never looking likely to win awards she is consistent and in demand.
But she has won awards! Just Not From Acting.
It is not just acting where Tilly has been a success, for almost twenty years she has also been a successful poker player. So successful in fact that she won a World Series of Poker bracelet in the Ladies event back in 2005 and a World Poker Tour title again in the same year and again in a ladies event.
Her success came around the time of the world’s poker boom after online poker allowed anyone who was anyone to play poker whenever they felt like it. The internet broke down the doors of insecurity which meant that players could learn and play the game without being embarrassed doing it face to face with far more experienced players.
This boom was further increased when Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event at the World Series Of Poker after qualifying online at PokerStars for a tiny investment of just $39. He took home $2.5 million for the win which encouraged players all over the world to take up online poker in order to get lucky just like he did.
She initially got into poker through her boyfriend Phil Laak who is a well known high stakes poker professional and celebrity. Her poker celebrity also grew after she appeared in a number of television shows for PokerStars, the poker site that now also owns Full Tilt Poker.
