Out of the two Whitehouse under attack films which were released last year, Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart, was the stronger and more enjoyable film. A sequel was announced last October, and now the sequel, London Has Fallen, has an official US release date. I would imagine the UK release date will be the same, or possibly earlier since the film will be based here.

The Press Release:

FOCUS FEATURES TO RELEASE LONDON HAS FALLEN STARRING GERARD BUTLER
Sequel of OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN to be Released Wide in the US on October 2, 2015
Los Angeles, May 1, 2014– Focus Features has acquired US distribution rights to LONDON HAS FALLEN, the sequel of the 2013 box office hit OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.

Star Gerard Butler will return for the sequel written by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt and Christian Gudegast. The film is being produced by Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, and Matt O’Toole. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson, Christine Crow, and Focus Features CEO Peter Schlessel will executive produce. Focus Features plans to release the film nationwide on October 2, 2015.

OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN was released on March 22, 2013 by FilmDistrict, the U.S. distributor led by Peter Schlessel prior to him being named CEO of Focus Features. The film earned over $98.9 million at the domestic box office.

Schlessel stated, “OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN took audiences by storm, and we’re excited to raise the stakes with LONDON HAS FALLEN as Gerard Butler returns in the lead. Moviegoers can expect another action-packed thrill ride.”

The sequel to the worldwide smash hit “Olympus Has Fallen” begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
