The American Film Market is now in full swing, and tonight we have three new posters to share with you. One for a horror comedy, one for a creature feature, and one of s sci-fi sequel. Check them all out below.
Burying the Ex:
Joe Dante directs from a screenplay written by Alan Trezza. The cast includes Anton Yelchin (Fright Night 2011), Ashley Greene (The Apparition), Alexandra Daddario (TCM 3D) and Oliver Cooper (Project X).
BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashely Greene). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be hissoul mate. But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max …even if that means turning him into one of the undead.
In the same vein as WARM BODIES and SHAUN OF THE DEAD, Dante’s BURYING THE EX is a not too serious homage to Dante’s beloved movies. The film is a commercial popcorn movie that explores an unconventional love triangle within the fleeting world of young love.
Stung, which focuses on a giant wasp, is being released by Rat Pack Film Produktion and Twitch’s XYZ Films, and is directed by German special effects wizard Benni Diez. Diez has worked on Lars Von Triers Melancholia, and has been making commercials after his first short film, Kingz. The ultra talented director has been working on the feature length film, Stung.
The film has been described as “a creature feature in the old style – a slyly tongue in cheek, action driven horror comedy that calls back to the days before creature features became the sole provenance of sub-Corman knock-em-out-cheap hack jobs. Think Tremors or Slither on a more compact scale”.
Matt O’Leary (Frailty, Death Sentence), Jessica Cook, Peter Stormare and Lance Henriksen (Aliens) all star in the horror comedy.
Adam Aresty wrote the screenplay, which is “about a fancy garden party that goes wrong when a local species of wasp mutates, resulting in an attack by giant insects. It is left to two catering staff to thwart the onslaught and in the process develop a romance.”
Tough guy actor Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Warrior, The Grey) is said to be taking the lead role in upcoming sci-fi sequel, Beyond Skyline.
News of Beyond Skyline first arrived out of Cannes earlier this year, and confirmed that The Brothers Strause were not returning to direct. Instead the directing reigns are being handed over to Skyline producer and co-writer Liam O’Donnell, who will be making his directorial debut.
It has been reported that Beyond Skyline’s story will take place at exactly the same time as the original film.
