I have still not seen Eric England’s said to be stunning horror Contracted, and still with no UK release confirmed, sadly I am expecting to be left waiting for some time. However, tonight there is good news for those who caught it an FrightFest last year, or those living in the US where the film has had some healthy returns on VOD.

Deadline confirms that a sequel is in the works, with IFC Midnight getting behind it. Unfortunately though Eric England will not be returning to direct.

Per Deadline:

After seeing strong VOD returns from last year’s STD horror flick Contracted, IFC Midnight is springing for its sequel, Contracted: Phase II. Writer-director Eric England’s first film was an original low-budget take on the zombie genre about a young woman in rapid decay after picking up an icky, mysterious disease from a one-night stand. The sequel continues where Contracted left off, as newly-infected Riley (Matt Mercer) scrambles to track down those responsible for the outbreak and discovers a larger conspiracy that threatens to infect the world.

England’s not involved in the follow-up, which is already in production in LA; he’s currently filming indie comedy Get The Girl. Instead, BoulderLight Pictures producers J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules tapped new blood to helm the sequel, hiring newcomer Josh Forbes to direct from a script by first-timer Craig Walendziak.

Contracted co-stars Matt Mercer and Alice MacDonald are back, joined by Peter Cilella, Marianna Palka, Morgan Peter Brown, Laurel Vail, Anna Lore and Suzanne Voss in a follow-up that ups the ante and expands on the first film’s modestly scaled origins.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
