It hasn’t been officially announced, but Marvel President Kevin Feige let slip the title for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

During an interview with Collider about the upcoming Ant-Man film, Feige was asked about the status of the sequel to (in my opinion) Marvel’s second best film (behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Feige told Collider:

“We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016″.

So there you have it, much like the Awesome Mix-Tape Vol. 1, and the highly anticipated Vol. II in the sequel, the title of the film is using the style traditionally attached to comic books. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II is your title, and if you don’t believe me, then let director James Gunn himself confirm it for you:

Gunn also revealed to Collider that the highly anticipated sequel will be more emotional than the awesome first film, with plenty of Daddy issues to go round:

“It’s gonna be exciting. I think it’s a more emotional movie. I think it’s both a bigger movie and a smaller movie ‘cause we focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie, and I think we focus a lot on that”

We already know that Star-Lord had some parenting problems, so maybe there will be plenty more focus on his back story in this one. And let’s face it, Chris Pratt was insanely good, so the more focus on him the better.

The first film hit all the right notes, perfectly, and it was a combination of terrific writing, highly likeable characters, stunning special effects, a great soundtrack and a thrilling energy. However, what really impressed was the comedy, as the film was hilarious without even trying.

Gunn revealed on Facebook that we can expect more of the same from the sequel:

“The new script is actually funnier than the first script, or at least seems to be from the reactions. I don’t have to introduce a bunch of new characters so it gives way more room for development – emotional stuff and humorous stuff. It’s very freeing”

Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in UK cinemas on 28th April 2017.

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
