James Wan’s adaptation of terrifying horror short ‘Lights Out’ finds its female lead

Deadline has confirmed that Teresa Palmer (above, Warm Bodies, I Am Number 4) has been cast in Lights Out, an adaptation of a truly terrifying short film. If you haven’t seen the short film, check it out below, but beware nightmares will follow!

James Wan is producing the feature length version of Lights Out, with David Sandberg making his feature directorial debut. The horror film will be Atomic Monster’s second with New Line after Annabelle, which grossed $255.2M worldwide when it was released last autumn.

Wan and New Line previously teamed on The Conjuring which ended up grossing a whopping $318M worldwide on what was a modest budget.

Gabriel Bateman (“Stalker”) will star in New Line’s horror project Lights Out with James Wan producing and Sandberg directing the full length version of his own short. Sandberg will also co-write.

Lawrence Grey and Eric A. Heisserer are also producing, with Heiserer writing the script based on Sandberg’s 2013 short film.

The story centers on a supernatural entity attacking a family, with one of the members required to step up to protect them from a threat that can be seen only when the lights go out.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
