I am so not feeling Paul Feig’s all female Ghostbusters movie, and while I know there are a few out there that actually do want this to happen, I really couldn’t care less. I was hoping the whole thing was just a bad dream, but alas it is not as filming begins today in Boston. Yes people, this IS really happening.

Locals in Boston, which is serving as a stand-in for New York, are naturally excited, and The Boston Herald has managed to dig up some plot details. While there are is no mention of the villain, it all sounds very familiar to fans of the original film, and it all sounds pretty rubbish if you ask me:

Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Argh, it just sounds horrible!

The Boston Herald also reported that the shoot will be shutting down a few of the financial districts in Boston for a number of nights, and this is to allow them to shoot a “epic ghost invasion of Manhattan”. The paper also confirms from reliable sources that Slimer will return.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will star in the “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Ivan Reitman is producing.

It has been reported that the female Ghostbusters will be:

Erin Gabler is an academic on the tenure track at Columbia. Her former colleague and co-author is…
Abby Bergman, who’s more on the pop parapsychology side of things, and pursues ghosts for a living.
Jillian is Abby’s ghost hunting partner.
Patty is an MTA employee who comes across the main ghost.

Chris Hemsworth will be playing the male version of Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz, secretary to the original band of ghostbusters. One source told Deadline that he will be the assistant to the band of ghostbusting gals “who nobody wants to work with.”

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
