SyFy’s latest monster and Mother Nature mashup, Lavalantula, premiered last Saturday, and already a sequel has been announced.

Deadline reported the news, confirming the title of the sequel as (wait for this!!!), 2 Lava 2 Lantula, brilliant!

No other details were available, so at this point we do not know which cast members will return, or who will direct. However, the film has been set for a summer 2016 release.

Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider) directed Lavalantula, with a cast that saw a Police Academy reunion.Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy), Leslie Easterbrook (Police Academy), Michael Winslow (“Police Academy: The Series”), Marion Ramsey (Police Academy), Nia Peeples (“Pretty Little Liars”), and Ralph Garman (KROQ DJ) all featured in the film.

Giant lava-breathing tarantulas – Lavalantulas – erupt out of ancient volcanoes in the Santa Monica Mountains, raining death and destruction upon Los Angeles, in the new Syfy Original Movie Lavalantula.

With the City of Angels on the verge of incineration, only a washed up ‘90s action hero actor, played by Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy, Diner) — joined by Police Academy alumni Leslie Easterbrook (Police Academy) and Michael Winslow (Police Academy: The Series) — stand in the way of this monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty creatures who burn their victims alive.

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
