Everyone knows that Dan Aykroyd has been desperately trying to get a new Ghostbusters film made, but a massive rumour is now going around that he may actually have a role in Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters.

According to Indie Revolver, the role will be a cameo, and I have to admit that it sounds terrible. Here is how the site reported it:

Aykroyd will be playing a taxi cab driver who is hailed by Kristen Wiig. Upon seeing her, he yells out the iconic line, “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!” before peeling away. Wiig, in frustration, yells back something similar to, “That’s a double negative! That means you ARE afraid of ghosts!”

Now I know that I have pretty pretty negative towards Feig’s Ghostbusters film, but come on, this idea is horrendous, is it not?

Neil Casey has been set to play the villain in Ghostbusters, Sony’s female-driven reboot of the comedy franchise that is being directed by Paul Feig from a script by Feig and Kate Dippold. Casey will be playing a character named Rowan, but details are being heavily guarded at this moment in time.

The Boston Herald recently dug up some plot details:

Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will star in the “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Ivan Reitman is producing.

It has been reported that the female Ghostbusters will be:

Erin Gabler is an academic on the tenure track at Columbia. Her former colleague and co-author is…
Abby Bergman, who’s more on the pop parapsychology side of things, and pursues ghosts for a living.
Jillian is Abby’s ghost hunting partner.
Patty is an MTA employee who comes across the main ghost.

Chris Hemsworth will be playing the male version of Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz, secretary to the original band of ghostbusters. One source told Deadline that he will be the assistant to the band of ghostbusting gals “who nobody wants to work with.”

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
