Beware indeed, for there are children at play in this red-band trailer for horror sequel, Sinister 2, and we have the goods for you below.
Filled with disturbing images, a strong sense of sticking to a formula that works, and the signature freaky soundtrack, director Ciaran Foy’s Sinister 2 is looking every bit as good as the first, if this new trailer is anything to go by.
Sinister 2, the follow-up to the 2012 pic that grossed more than $87M worldwide on of a $3M budget, will arrive August 21, 2015. Citadel‘s Ciaran Foy will helm the next chapter, which Sinister director Scott Derrickson is writing with C. Robert Cargill.
The cast includes Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, Robert and Dartanian Sloan. Ransone will reprise his role as Deputy So-And-So (he was never named in the first film).
The new franchise follows Blumhouse’s success with the Paranormal Activity and Insidious series of ultra-low-budget genre hits. eOne financed the sequel, with Derrickson and Jason Blum producing.
Here’s the synopsis for Sinister 2:
In the aftermath of the shocking events in Sinister, a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of Wayward Pines) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death. James Ransone, who portrayed the concerned sheriff’s deputy in Sinister, will be reprising his character in Sinister 2.
