Carles Torrens is the director behind the quite brilliant found footage horror with a twist, Apartment 143, and now he’s returning to horror with Pet.
Dominic Monaghan (Lost) is said to have been wanting to get the film made since 2008, and now production has finally kicked off. Pet is said to be in the same style as Gone Girl and Hard Candy.
Dominic Monaghan, Orphan Black actress Ksenia Solo, iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Parsons of The Originals are starring in indie horror thriller Pet.
Carles Torrens, who directed the 2012 horror film Apartment 143, is behind the camera for the movie, which began production this week and is a co-production between Revolver Picture Company and Spanish company Magic Lantern.
Written by Jeremy Slater, the story centers on an introverted man who imprisons a woman, only to find the tables turned on him. The project is said to be tonally in the vein of Gone Girl and Hard Candy.
The project has been in the works since about 2007, when it was first set up at MGM. Monaghan has been intent on making the feature since at least 2008.
Torrens is producing alongside Revolver’s Nick Phillips and Kelly Martin Wagner. Revolver was involved in horror movies such as Haunt and Beneath.
