Blake Lively (The Town, Gossip Girl, Savages) is currently in talks to star in Jaume Collet-Serra’s shark thriller, In The Deep, and hopefully a deal can be worked out.
According to THR, there is a scheduling conflict as Lively is also looking to star in Woody Allen’s latest movie, however if she takes the role of In The Deep, then she will be in every frame of the film.
As it is a shark thriller, the film is also looking to be positioned for a much bigger audience than Allen’s film, and would be a huge boost to Lively’s career after taking a break to have a baby.
The film will be produced by former Warner Bros executive Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem.
Tonally, the spec is described as a cross between 127 Hours meets Jaws, with a touch of Gravity thrown in for good measure.
The script, by Anthony Jaswinski, centers on a young woman (Lively) dealing with the loss her mother, surfing in an isolated area when she gets stranded on a buoy. Things take a turn for the worse when a gigantic great white shark comes between her and the shore.
