Sam Worthington made a big impact of the sci-fi genre by starring in James Cameron’s massive Avatar, and he is now set to return to the genre, although on a much smaller scale.

Variety reports that Worthington is set to star in The Titan, a sci-fi drama which sounds really interesting, although there are not a huge amount of details yet.

Per Variety:

In a pre-Toronto International Film Festival development, Sam Worthington, Ruth Wilson and Sofia Boutella have come on board to star in science-fiction adventure “The Titan.”

Shooting is set to begin in Europe in January. Producers are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones’ Automatik, Ben Pugh, Rory Aitken’s 42 and Arash Amel.

Voltage Pictures will introduce the project to buyers at Toronto. CAA represents US rights. Leon Clarance and Motion Picture Capital will also produce and fully finance.

Lennart Ruff is directing from a script by Max Hurwitz, based on a story by Amel about a military family that’s relocated to take part in a ground-breaking experiment about genetic evolution in space.

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
