BatI love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Silent Hill

  1. Aliens. Great cast, action and after all these years I never get bored of watching it!

  2. Independence Day. Great cast mix off intense fighting and comedy

  3. alien

  4. Blade Runner – a classic.

  5. Back to the Future,,,,,,,,,,,,,a simple film but entertaining no less

  6. Serenity – I was a fan of Firefly and this is a great film based on that TV series. Loads of action and fight scenes. This was a really enjoyable film and I wish they would make more episodes of the TV series.

  7. Starship Troopers, the first one, it was laughable, the others just plain terrible. How to take a franchise and stretch it beyond its life span.

  8. Alien. The dark, oppressive atmosphere sets up the film before we even see the alien.

  9. Terminator 2: Judgement Day – great SFX & great action.

  10. My personal favourite is Flash Gordon – visually it’s incredible and there are some great action sequences throughout, perfectly complemented by Queen’s stunning soundtrack.

  11. Terminator 2: Judgement Day great film

  12. Creepshow. Saw it as a kid – first ‘horror’ film

  13. E.T. because it is Steven Spielberg at his peak.

  14. It’s got to be Alien. The special effects still look fabulous after all these years.

  15. I like Stargate, because it was something different when it first came out.

  16. predator because there is lots of action but the apredators wont kill you unless you threaten them

  17. Has to be pitch black for me

  18. Predator! Hands down one of the greatest films of all time. Everything about it is brilliant! Great action, great cast and possibly the greatest collection of one liners in a single film!

  19. My favourite Action Sci Fi film to be different to everyone else is Deep Rising, love a good creature feature and this has lots of action and humour too. you can see why the director got to do the Mummy after, hope it gets a sequel one day

  20. back to the future, 30 years on it still has it. love Christopher Lloyd and love Michael J Fox.

  21. back to the future……30 years later it still works for me. rocking Christopher Lloyd!

  22. “Attack the Block” – it was funny and exciting, without the benefit of a huge budget. Great to see that Joe Cornish has gone on to co-write “Antman”.

  23. Cabin in the woods. Is it a sci-fi? Is it a horror? Is it a comedy? All of these I think, and so very clever!

  24. Aliens – nothing comes close

  25. alien such a mind gripping film

  26. The original alien was brilliant and quite scary. wasn’t so keen on the follow ups, but the prequel was fine x

  27. Total Recall (original)

Cant beat a bit of Arnie!

  28. Has to be Alien x a timeless classic x

  29. Total Recall – it is timeless, has Mars in it and Arnie – enough said

  30. Terminator – total classic.

  31. You can’t beat the first Terminator film – so exciting.

  32. Aliens, can watch it over and over

  33. I like Moon, Sam Rockwell’s performance was special.

  34. the matrix, such a classic!

  35. Until very recently I would have said The original Stars Wars Trilogy, any of them but Edge of Tomorrow (Live. Die. Repeat.) has taken the genre to a new level. Brilliant CGI and a fabulously tight script have made this a modern classic. Any film which sees Tom Cruise killed so often has to have a lot going for it but his first attempt to roll away from the squad is my favourite death.

  36. independence day, just a great watch

  37. Predator, good suspense, you just know someone is gonna cop it soon!

  38. Aliens – nothing else needs to be said!

  39. Starship Troopers – like the old B-movies of the 50’s, slightly cheesy but still really entertaining.

  40. It’s got to be Aliens!

  41. The original terminator was a good one. Not so impressed with the sequels, but i can watch terminator again and again

  42. my favourite is fifth element a great film that had me laughing which is always a good thing

  43. Predator, so scary and bloodthirsty!

  44. Attack the Block, such a fun film

  45. Empire Stikes Back – all time favourite Sci-fi film which has it all! Yes, newer films have even more action, but too much cgi distraction. I keep coming back to this again and again and again and again and again!

  46. For sheer fun I’d go for Aliens: Special Edition. Great characters, great action, possibly James Cameron at his best. It’s given us some fantastic action sequences and is still a yardstick that many new movies, even with massive budgets and more advanced SFX still fail to match. “We’re in the pipe, 5 by 5”

  47. ‘The Thing’ because I love the combination of being in a sh*tload of trouble in a place there’s little or no escape from…true horror. Plus the SFX are pretty cool 😆

  48. I like Live, Die, Repeat as it blends modern and potentially future combat methods.

  49. My favourite is the original Aliens

  50. Gravity, it is so possible, and becoming more so every day.

  51. The Thing, the original movie. Great special effects.

  52. I love Predator. Brilliant action and love the Predator itself.

  53. the FIFTH ELEMENT bit corny but it is the first film my partner and i saw together

  54. Mars Attacks its quirky ,fun ,disturbing and right up my street

  55. Aliens – has a slow build up but once the action gets going it just doesn’t let up

  56. back to the future, such a great film!

  57. Robo-Cop – loved the movie as a kid and love it now x

  58. The Terminator the original 1984 one Awesome film I love it and still good even now 30 years on

  59. Blade Runner, absolute classic

  60. Starship Troopers. Great battle scenes and alien creatures

  61. Aliens.
Although I love the first one and I even enjoyed Alien3 (I will not speak about Alien:Resurrection as I can see why watching it made Joss Whedon cry) the action and suspense in Aliens has it as one of my all time top 10 movies.

  62. The Terminator

  63. Running Man. Super quotable, nicely violent and lots of spandex!

  64. Die Hard Bruce Willis is great in it

  65. The empire strikes back as its not only the best sci fi film, but the greatest film ever made! Its exciting, fun, thrilling and from beginning to end keeps you enthralled!

  66. Blade runner. I was late to come across it and now it’s one of my favourite films ever!

  67. Terminator – such a great film. it never gets old

  68. John Carpenter’s Escape From New York is a superb sci fi film and has a cracking score, great action sequences and a decent cast. A true classic!

  69. Alien/Aliens always makes me jump even now after seeing it several times, you just never know where that blooming big extendable jaw is going to chop out at you next.

  70. It has to be Alien because of Ripley; I love the portrayal of such a strong lead female and the way that she develops as a character through the film.

  71. Predator one of the very first action sci-fi movies i watched so i will say that one for that very reason.

  72. loved alien so scary and great characters

  73. Blade Runner, the world we’re heading for if TTIP goes through !!

  74. Alien it’s such a classic

  75. I love Predator great action and suspense in it and different from a lot of the alien invasion films with them being hunters not invaders. 🙂

  76. total recall for me the original its such a mind bender and really gets your brain ticking 🙂

  77. Predator, because my brothers used to watch it and it reminds me of growing up, plus it’s a great film

  78. I love Alien v Predator – two great aliens one great-ish film!

  79. alien the first one

  80. I actually liked Cowboys V Aliens and it has two great actors starring in it, Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig

  81. Star Wars – the classic good v evil, great cast & special effects

  82. Action Sci-fi movies. There are so many good movies to choose from, Aliens or Predator or Terminator? I know lets go a bit left field,,,, Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure. It has time travel and Billy the Kid what more could you ask for? Or maybe Star Trek – Into Darkness. Its Star Trek need I say more.

  83. Love The Matrix films, I’ve watched them many times

  84. Monsters: Dark Continent

  85. Back to the Future because it’s epic- funny, entertaining, action fest- just plain fun movie!

  86. E.T> – It always gets to me no matter how often I see it.

  87. Independence day brilliant movie, great acting and always has you sitting on the edge of the seat watching it

  88. Blade Runner – Amazing Film! 🙂

  89. Attack the BLock. I was brought in South London so it has real echoes for me.

  90. Elysium because the story was so relevant even though far fetched and the acting, effects and action incredible.

  91. Hard choice but has to be the original total recall with arnie. Just the right mix of ass kicking fight scenes, shoddy special effects and comedy

  92. Forbidden Planet – loved it as a kid in the sixties and still enjoy it…

  93. Terminator 2: Judgement Day great film

  94. Blade Runner – a classic.
