beetlejuice

The sequel to Beetlejuice seems to have been talked about and talked about for years and years. Everyone either continues to confirm their involvement, or constantly shouts about how they’d love to do it.

As far as I can tell, Tim Burton has possibly changed some schedules around to make the film, and Michael Keaton has expressed huge interest in returning to play The Ghost With the Most. But nothing has actually been confirmed yet, we keep getting all these teases and updates, but it still feels like Beetlejuice 2 is a distant dream.

However, it is now Winona Ryder’s turn to (yet again) confirm her involvement, and she did so this week on Late Night with Seth Meyers. She was asked about the sequel, and here is what she said:

“I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview,” Ryder told Meyers. “It was very hush-hush, top secret, ‘I don’t know what may happen, I don’t know,’ and then he was doing some press for ‘Big Eyes’ and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it and Winona’s gonna be in it.’ So can I say…? I mean if he said it. But I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”

Last we heard on this, which was back in December, Burton said they were working on the script, which was coming together nicely. It seems to be taking forever, so I am not sure whether to believe what Ryder has said, or simply take it with a big grain of salt.

Her reply does seem kinda messy, like she wants to get caught up in the excitement, but has really got anything concrete to tell fans. Time to wait for the next update then…

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
