Martin McDonagh is the British director behind the hilarious and exceptional dark comedy In Bruges (above), and he also made Seven Psychopaths, which I really enjoyed but it didn’t receive the acclaim his first film did. McDonagh has stated before that his perfect speed in directing is to make a film every four years, and with Seven Psychopaths coming out in 2011, it’s time for his next film.
He revealed to The Guardian that a script is ready, and that his next film, brilliantly titled Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, will star the great Frances McDormand. McDonagh told the Guardian the plot outline, which sounds great by the way:
“It’s about a 50-year-old woman whose daughter is murdered and she goes to war with the police in her home town, because she thinks they are more interested in torturing black people than getting justice.”
I can’t wait! The film is currently in pre-production, so expect further updates as they become available.
