Director Robert Eggers scared the crap out of audience members at Sundance with his critically acclaimed horror, The Witch, and after being snapped up by A24, the film has had its US release date announced.
Be afraid, in fact, be very afraid as what is being called the scariest horror in years will arrive in US cinemas on 26th February 2016.
No UK dates have been announced yet, but we should follow shortly after the US release. For now though, and if you are brave enough, you will find a reminder of the terrifying trailer below.
The Witch is set in 1630 New England and follows parents William and Katherine who lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. The film is said to be ultra scary, very authentic and quite brilliant.
Written and directed by Robert Eggers, the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie.
Synopsis:
