Wow, it’s all happening this week regarding Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel. A few days ago the director hinted at a further two sequels after this one, telling FilmFutter when asked when exaclty Prometheus will connect with Alien:

“It won’t be in the next one,” explained Scott. “It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise…”

Scott has now thrown an enormous spanner in the works, and revealed to HeyYouGuys that the title of Prometheus 2 will actually be…

wait for it…

Alien: Paradise Lost!!!

WTF is hear you scream. WTF indeed. Just days ago Scott claimed the Alien connection would not happen for possibly three or four films, and now he reveals the title of Prometheus 2, and its as if Prometheus never existed.

It’s a great title, yet why get rid of Prometheus altogether? Could it be that Fox are uncertain about the use of Prometheus due to some of the negativity the film received? Does Scott now just want to crack on and get back to his Alien world as soon as possible? Using the word Alien could be a clever marketing tool, but surely those waiting for Prometheus 2 already know it exists in Scott’s Alien world, and that eventually the films will connect.

Also, what does this mean for Neil Blomkamp’s Alien 5????

All questions that will hopefully be answered in due course. One little piece of information though that Scott reveals in the below interview is that he is using Paradise Lost based on John Milton’s epic poems. The Wikipedia description of the poems is as follows:

The poem concerns the Biblical story of the Fall of Man: the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Milton’s purpose, stated in Book I, is to “justify the ways of God to men”.

Make of that what you will, but Scott has previously stated that the sequel will indeed explore the reasoning behind the alien creatures’ “evil biology” and what caused them to create such monsters.

Scott has already promised a brand new Xenomorph in Prometheus 2, so right now all is sounding very exciting. He also recently confirmed that Prometheus 2 WILL be his next film. Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace will be returning.

Plot details for Prometheus 2 are unknown at this time, but early reports suggest the film would see Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender’s head going to the Engineers planet, looking for revenge.

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
