BatI love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Silent Hill

  2. Escape to Victory! I remember everyone stood in the cinema cheering at the end of the film – Christ I’m old.

  3. Raging Bull

  4. The Karate Kid (1984). It’s a film I never tire of watching – the story (both funny and tender) is great, the one-liners unforgettable and the soundtrack is very good too. It’s a classic!

  5. Is free running a sport? Is so then District 13

  6. Tron, so fantastic and yes it was a sport in the film

  7. The Hunger games, great film cant wait for the next film.

  9. Fire in Babylon because it’s a great story and I love cricket.

  10. Rocky because I love to root for a underdog.

  11. Draft Day – compelling film full of twists and turns

  12. ‘Shaolin Soccer ‘- Kung Fu and Football combined…what’s not to love

  13. The Running man because it was pure action from start to finish and it was one of Arnies best films .

  14. Rocky because it’s a great film, the music is fab and it stars Sly Stallone!

  15. Escape to Victory. Quite a silly film really but worth watching for the big footie stars of the day.

  16. Rocky because it’s a underdog feel good movie that makes you good

  17. I’m going for the original ‘Rollerball’ with James Caan. It’s definitely a movie of it’s time, but well worth watching:

  18. salute of the jugger. mad max meets a sports movie starring rutger hauer. just badass.

  19. Robot Jox – Giant robots! Yeah!

  20. Million Dollar Baby for me. Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank were a great combination.

  21. The original Norman Jewison directed version of Rollerball starring James Caan. Saw it at the local flea pit and again about a month ago and still a good watch.

  22. The Original Rollerball was fantastic and remains so but my twisted sense of humour gives the Mean Machine number one spot. Taking the Burt Reynolds The Mean Machine and incorporating a British humour twist makes this one of the best sports-themed films of all times.

  23. has to be The Hunger games,

  24. I’m not ashamed to say I have a soft spot for XXX! Great film imo!

  25. It has to be Rocky 4

  26. Hunger games, so much fun to watch!! can’t wait for the next installment xx

  27. The Longest Yard – just makes me laugh.

  28. I would have to say never back down. Action packed

  29. The Mighty Ducks, just because I had a mighty crush on Joshua Jackson when I was younger. Okay so it isn’t technically an action movie, but there’s Ice Hockey, yay!

  30. The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke was brilliant in this, made me cry at the end

  31. Raging Bull. Great acting, great directing, great cinematography.

  32. Would have to be Point Break for me, great film!!

  33. I liked ‘Remember The Titans’ with Denzel Washington. Sports flicks only seem to work for me if they have some basis in reality.

  34. Whip It – I would have loved there to have been roller derbys when i was a kid

  35. cool runnings so funny and based on a true story plus the late john candy is in it

  36. Baseketball because Parker and Stone are brilliant.

  37. Invictus – not really an action movie but a great movie all the same

  38. loved moneyball with brad pitt

  39. cool runnings – never gets old

  40. The Karate Kid – I seem to watch this every year 🙂

  41. South Paw – full of emotion and raw. I loved it!

  42. Rocky – great story, music and cast!

  43. Cool Runnings if that counts??!

  44. I like Gamer. That was brilliant.

  45. Million Dollar Baby – good performances

  46. Another vote for the Wrestler. I think it classes as an action as well as a drama. So well done and so sad

  47. The Damned United – So many fantastic Brian Clough quotes and a football masterpiece

  48. Escape to Victory; you either love it or hate it, but it’s epic with a cast and a half

  49. Rocky 3 as its got Mr T!

  50. Marathon Man puts me off going to the dentist

  51. The Fan with Wesley Snipes and Robert De Niro such an awesome movie i love the way it shows what some people think when they idolise a celebrity too much.

  52. Battle Royals if that counts! School children are scary

  53. The Running Man with Arnie, a great classic of a future game show.

  54. Rollerball, great film

  55. Million Dollar Baby – such fab cast and performances!

  56. Rocky 4 because it was epic- loved all the workout scenes

  57. Running Man, Great movie

  58. The Hunger games its fantastic movie x

  59. Got to be The Hunger Games for me!!!So Tense and Brilliantly acted!!

  60. Million dollar baby and good to see a strong lead role for a female.

  61. Rocky – the original!

  62. Karate kid because of iconic under dog defeating the bullies.

  63. Rocky all the way.

  64. Happy Gilmore it’s a classic and so funny ????

  65. cool runnings

  66. Space Jam! Because it’s hilarious and who doesn’t love Looney Tunes 🙂

  67. Mortal Kombat – loved it! Had it on VHS

  68. has to be the karate kid – such great lines – wax on wax off lol

  69. The Rocky series is one of my all time favourites!

  70. Slap Shot – with its re-teaming of a brilliantlly foul-mouthed, charmer Paul Newman with director George Roy Hill – has some great locker-room dialogue; wonderfully eccentric characters and brutal (but hilarious) on-ice violence. The use of many real life professional ice-hockey players makes the action fast and realistic and the child-like, loveable thugs, the Hanson brothers, are truly magnificent.

  71. running man now that a class movie

  72. Escape to Victory for John Wark’s “acting”

  73. Rocky is my fave, especially when he is training

  74. raging bull
