Excitement for the Starz TV series Ash vs Evil Dead is huge, and the first season kicks off this weekend. However, with such a devoted fan following, and everyone in the horror community talking about it (not to mention all reviews saying its bloody amazing), Starz have now confirmed a second season is happening.

Ash himself Bruce Campbell mentioned a second season earlier this week, but now its official!

The Press Release:

Executive producers and The Evil Dead filmmakers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are all returning for Ash vs Evil Dead season two with executive producer and showrunner Craig DiGregorio. Campbell will continue in his role as Ash Williams, the aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter. Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) is also returning as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks.

“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” says Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.”

The 10-episode first season of the half-hour series also stars Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick; Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past; and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Starz recently announced global licensing deals with broadcasters and digital platforms in more than 100 countries and territories worldwide allowing Ash vs Evil Dead to premiere simultaneously with its network premiere in the U.S. on October 31. Broadcasters and digital providers offering Ash vs Evil Dead on October 31 include Amedia (Russia/CIS), C More (Scandinavia), Fox Action on Fox+ Premium service/Fox Latin America Channels (Latin America/Brazil), Sky TV (New Zealand), Stan (Australia), Starz Play Arabia (Middle East/North Africa) and Super Channel (Canada).

“Ash vs Evil Dead” premieres Saturday, October 31st, at 9:00pm ET/PT exclusively on STARZ with a 10-episode season.

Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus,” “Xena”) as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks; Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick; Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past; and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Matt WavishA keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.

One Response to “TV: Groovy! ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ confirmed for a second season!”

  1. Sorry, but… I thought it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped… The jokes weren’t that funny and Bruce was sadly looking his age. Maybe it’s just me but perhaps it’s just not the right time or something but Evil Dead was just proving how aged it really is with this TV series.
