To celebrate the release of The Houses of Halloween – on download, DVD from 5th October 2015 – we have a copy on DVD to giveaway courtesy of Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment.

A genuinely creepy concept that once again reinvents the “found-footage” horror movie and blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Following five filmmakers on a road trip to find an alternative Halloween tourist attraction, it builds to a nerve-shredding climax that haunt you for days.

Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…

The Houses of Halloween stars, Brandy Schaefer (Someplace Better Than Here), Mikey Roe (producer TV’s Feed the Beast), Zack Andrews (feature debut), Jeff Larson (feature debut) Bobby Roe (TV’s Clubhouse, directing debut)

  1. The ones I always go back to – Dog Soldiers, Fright Night (the original) and The Lost Boys. Probably only one of them on Halloween, but the others will come out at some point.

  2. The Changeling – the old haunted house/ghost story DVD NOT the Angelina Jolie film. The wheelchair at the top of the stairs gets me every time. 🙂

  3. I’ll have the kids so it will be Hocus Pocus, but after they’re in bed I’ve got House of 1000 Corpses lined up!

  4. Tradition means I’ll watch my childhood favourite first, Hocus Pocus, followed by my teen favourite, The Craft – then I’ll just watch one or two that or on Netflix.

  5. Nightmare on Elm Street a classic.! Definitely not House of a thousand Corpses as last time I couldn’t sleep for weeks!

  6. the plan as of right now is a horror “bad movie night” with the main event being the legendarily bad “rock and roll nightmare”.

  7. The Changeling with George C. Scott, the scene when the child is murdered in the bathtub and is banging on the bath side always makes me jump.

  8. Halloween of course all of them except 3 which is shite has nothing to do with anything . .Michael Myers still scares the cap out of me

  9. I shall be watching The Hive, very creepy!!! The nightmare on Elm Street films and Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without the old classic Halloween films with Jamie Lee Curtis, pure classics x

  10. As I’ve got young children it will probably be Scared Shrekless, Hotel Transylvania and if I’m really lucky Ghost Busters 🙂

  11. I’d favour The Fog (Carpenter original) but knowing my luck it’ll be a chuffing Bridget Jones film or something as the wife always gets her way.
    Thank god for beer.

  12. I’m gonna man up (or woman up!) and try to watch poltergeist – this is a film that gave me nightmares when I watched it when I was 7 and had me so scared I couldnt have any reflective surfaces in my room! I had to put a towel over my telly! Even now I am not keen on mirrors in my bedroom lol. I havent actually watched it since then so I am going to make sure I have company, the lights will remain firmly on and I will see if its as scary as i remember!

  13. The Dawn of the Dead remake. No, I don’t think it’s quite as good as the original but I have a soft spot for trucks with bespoke slits for chainsaws. Such a vehicle would be the centrepiece of a serial killer’s reimagining of Top Gear.
