We at HCF are huge fans of Pascal Laugier’s 2008 masterpiece Martyrs which is one of the best horror films of the noughties, so when it was announced that America are going to do a remake, then our hearts filled with dread.

Lets be honest, this remake lark of foreign films does not have a good track record and there is huge pressure on the Goetz brothers who are directing this film, to appease the fan base out there but early feedback is promising.

Now we get the first official trailer of the upcoming film and the tone is very much similar to its original.

The official Storyline is this……

Ten-year-old Lucie flees from the isolated warehouse where she has been held prisoner. Deeply traumatized, she is plagued by awful night terrors at the orphanage that takes her in. Her only comfort comes from Anna, a girl her own age. Nearly a decade later and still haunted by demons, Lucie finally tracks down the family that tortured her. As she and Anna move closer to the agonizing truth, they find themselves trapped in a nightmare – if they cannot escape, a martyr’s fate awaits them…

Martyrs is released in limited theaters and Digital HD on January 22, 2016, thanks to Anchor Bay and will then head for VOD, DVD, and Blu-ray shortly on February 2nd.

The film stars True Blood’s Bailey Noble and Pretty Little Liars Troian Bellisario.

Ross HughesSince my mother sat me down at the age of five years of age and watched a little called Halloween, I have been hooked on horror. There is no other genre that gets me excited and takes me to the edge of entertainment. I watch everything from old, new, to cheap and blockbusters, but I promise all my readers that I will always give an honest opinion, and I hope whoever reads this review section, will find a film that they too can love as much as I do! Have fun reading, and please DO HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!!!
