So its official.  We are having an all new 24 TV Show as FOX have confirmed that the hit show set in real time is coming back with the title 24: Legacy.

Bad news as expected the hero Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland is not returning and we will have a new hero to root for in the shape of Eric Carter!

“The character was originally conceived as being a diverse actor. We wanted it to be as different from Jack Bauer as possible and that was the original thinking behind having this be a diverse lead. Whether that’s an African-American or Latino actor, we’ve been really excited by some of the people we’ve been seeing throughout our internal process.” confirmed  Fox Television Group CEO Dana Walden.

The official plot so far is this…..

“The project will revolve around a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.”

Being a 24 fan this is hard to take at the moment.  I welcome the fact that we branching out with a new hero and I agree with Sutherland that a show like 24 can go on without Bauer, but in my opinion only if the story is strong and fresh with originality.

The fact that its already been confirmed that CTU is back in the mix as set the alarm bells ringing because how long will it take for the writers to fall back in the same traits that marred the latter seasons of the show…..the usual mole….the same old stupid sub plots that the mini season Live Another Day benefited from not having.

With a new character thrust into CTU, its inevitable that fans will only see him as a Bauer clone and I was hoping for a new season to be totally different, maybe just a man, saving his family or himself in a position he has never faced before, while that dreaded clock counted down.

How long before we hear that a Presidential candidate or the President himself is back in danger again?

Here is hoping that we get some welcome news of a totally different story in the next few weeks.

Ross HughesSince my mother sat me down at the age of five years of age and watched a little called Halloween, I have been hooked on horror. There is no other genre that gets me excited and takes me to the edge of entertainment. I watch everything from old, new, to cheap and blockbusters, but I promise all my readers that I will always give an honest opinion, and I hope whoever reads this review section, will find a film that they too can love as much as I do! Have fun reading, and please DO HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!!!
