Though it seems that the majority of horror fans [myself included] found the film to be just average [though that bit when the lift kept stopping on the same floor was quite chilling], 2014’s spinoff from The Conjuring, Annabelle, was a big hit, managing to pull in $84 million domestically and over double that world-wide. A sequel was mentioned soon after it came out but little that was concrete was heard until now, with Warner Bros. announcing that the sequel will be released on May 19th, 2017, the same release date in the US  as Dwayne Johnson’s comedic take on Baywatch. With the second Conjuring movie out before then, the film will probably be another box office success, and also another nail in the coffin for really original, frightening and disturbing horror which tends not to get widely released or not go into cinemas at all.

No news of screenwriter, director or stars yet. Hopefully this instalment, unlike the first one, will give me the creeps that films featuring deadly dolls normally tend to do.

Dr Lenera

Dr LeneraI'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
