The 3rd annual Leigh Film Festival will take place on Saturday 24th September 2016 and it promises to be another exciting and well attended event.

The aim of the festival is to promote short and amateur film makers work, primarily made in or at least involving actors from the North West of England but are open to material from further afield as well.   Filmmakers interested must submit films no longer than 20 minutes in length and they’re open to all popular genres of film.

The submission deadline for short films is 1st August 2016.  Leigh Film Festival team will then notify all selected film makers no later than Wednesday 24th August 2016.  This gives approximately one calendar month for filmmakers to arrange attendance at the event should they so wish.

On the evening there will be a bar and refreshments available from doors opening at 6pm until the end of the night, with film screenings starting at 7pm and running towards 9.30pm with a short interval in the middle.  The festival will finish with an after show party.

Tickets cost £5 each and are available via the website and also via the CreativeLEIGH box office directly.

Leigh Film Festival are offering a cash prize this year of £200 which will go to the winner of the Audience Choice award, which will be voted live on-line by the attending audience after all the films have been screened.   The winner will be announced and present the award (if the winning makers have attended) during the after show party.

Last year’s festival had over 120 guests on the night including 4 of the film making teams.

BatWhilst I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, nothing can beat a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. I don't do 3D movies so put the red and green spex away!
