Everybody Loves Raymond

Sad news this morning as Doris Roberts who played Marie in the cult comedy smash Everybody Loves Raymond has sadly passed away at the age of 90.

Roberts who was a five time Emmy award winner, passed away in her sleep and will be much missed in the world of film and TV!

Famous for her role in Raymond, in which she played an interfering mother who lived across the road from her son, her co-star Ray Romano has paid tribute to the TV Mother who brought laughs to a generation.

‘Doris Roberts had an energy and a spirit that amazed me,’ Romano said in a statement.

‘She never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a young, green comic trying to make it as an actor, she did it all with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly.’

Roberts starred in detective series Remington Steele and won her first Emmy for her one-episode role as a patient in St Elsewhere in the 1980s, winning the gong for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Patricia Heaton, who played Raymond’s wife in the show, posted a picture of her and Roberts on Twitter with a tribute.

“‘Truly the end of an era. My wonder TV mother-in-law and ELR nemesis Doris Roberts was a consummate professional from whom I learned so much.

‘She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy than her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud.

‘It truly was a privilege Doris. I love you and miss you”

Roberts leaves behind her son Michael Cannata Jr and three grandchildren.

She will be very much missed!

Ross HughesSince my mother sat me down at the age of five years of age and watched a little called Halloween, I have been hooked on horror. There is no other genre that gets me excited and takes me to the edge of entertainment. I watch everything from old, new, to cheap and blockbusters, but I promise all my readers that I will always give an honest opinion, and I hope whoever reads this review section, will find a film that they too can love as much as I do! Have fun reading, and please DO HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!!!
