Simeon Halligan and Rachel Richardson-Jones, who you may know as the duo behind Grimm Up North screenings and Grimmfest festival as well as directing and producing films Splintered and White Settlers, are back with HABIT!
Currently shooting in Manchester and with six days left on the calendar to show your support, HABIT will be a gripping ‘Elevated Genre’ horror movie who’s gritty street vibe will appeal to viewers who embraced movies such as Andrea Arnold’s RED ROAD or FISH TANK, while it’s dark bloody underbelly echoes movies like LET THE RIGHT ONE IN or KILL LIST.
Manchester, the present. Michael divides his time between the job centre and the pub. A chance meeting with Lee, an introduction to her Uncle Ian and a heavy night on the lash lead to a job working the door at a Northern Quarter massage parlour.
After witnessing the violent death of one of the punters, Michael experiences blood-drenched flashbacks and feels himself being sucked into a twilight world that he doesn’t understand but that is irresistibly attractive. When he eventually finds out what goes on in the room below cloud 9, Michael’s life will never be the same again.
To show your support and to feed HABIT, visit the Kickstarter campaign where the filmmakers are looking to raise £10,000 to complete the film. There’s a range of rewards on offer for pledges big and small, starting from £3, so every little helps. £12 can get you a digital copy of the film before anyone else but hurry as there’s only 200 slots available.
