Well its been coming, what was once a vibrant and funny show, has descended into chaos over the last two seasons and after all the rumours, ABC have confirmed that they have called an end to Castle.
After weeks of news developments in which fans were told that Season 9 would return without the involvement of Stana Katic which was met with howls of despair by fans, ABC have decided that the show will end and the final episode is due to air next week.
Plans for Castle to continue with just Nathan Fillion have been shelved and while this is a bit unexpected, because we had reasons to believe that a new season was a strong possibility, its the best outcome in the long run.
Castle without Kate would have been an odd season because despite the rumours of an on-set clash between the two, the chemistry on screen is one of the reasons why the show remained so popular for many years.
Castle in its heyday was a brilliant, sometimes funny and surreal (time travel, alternative universes) show but ever since Castle’s memory loss storyline, the show’s quality has slipped dramatically and ratings have slumped.
The last ever episode will air on Monday 16th May.
