Toronto based distribution company 108 Media will be releasing Cult Documentary The Triangle on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Google and Xbox on June 28th 2016.
Set deep in the Montana wilderness, The Triangle exposes the experiences of four filmmaker’s who after receiving an unsettling postcard from an estranged friend take their cameras into a secluded commune to document the mysterious inner workings of the group on their disconcerting road to self-sufficiency, witnessing something more shocking than they ever imagined. Adam Stilwell, Adam Pitman, David Blair, Andrew Rizzo and Nathaniel Peterson put method directing to a test creating this exhilarating film and bringing the story of one friend to life.
The Triangle sees two sets of filmmakers making two versions of the same film as they met their challenges head on with one filmmaker in the middle making sure that they both moved in the same direction.
Stilwell, the filmmaker in the middle would work with the two directors who would become the cult leaders, Rizzo and Peterson, building the blueprint for the tone and journey of the film. While the other two documentary filmmakers, Pitman and Blair, would be left completely in the dark.
The fiction director’s aka cult leaders would build the sandbox with the actors. They’d build their camp, assign roles and instead of giving the actors lines that they were to act, they built backstories and workshopped a past and a dogma that would allow the characters to react, and for the camp to function just like a real life commune.
The three documentary filmmakers would prepare to shoot a film based off of a post card, in a world just to the left of reality. They’d be able to enter the commune without any idea what they were walking into. Making it, in essence, a true documentary, full of real investigation and honest fear.
The end result is a documentary film that is sure to thrill, scare and excite movie watchers across the country and keep them guessing until the very end. Who will come out unscathed? Who will never leave the cult? And how will all the story lines unfold is anyone’s guess….
The Triangle will have a special screening in Los Angeles followed by the North American digital release on June 28th 2016.
