javier bardem frankenstein

Seems like another A-list actor could be joining the Universal Classic Monster Universe. Hot on the heels of the news that Dwayne Johnson is in talks to star as Lawrence Talbot the Wolfman, we are informed that Javier Bardem [No Country for Old Men, Skyfall]  is in talks to star in a Frankenstein movie. Now Variety, which reported the news, doesn’t tell us whether he will be playing Victor Frankenstein or Frankenstein’s monster. He’s a fine actor and I could see him making a good job of either character. Neither does it tell us whether this will be in the proposed Bride Of Frankenstein remake, yet another adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel which could be made before the Angelina Jolie starrer [which would make sense except that rumous indicate that Universal are unsure about it because Victor Frankenstein was such a major flop], or a spin-off solo movie which will be made after Bride Of Frankenstein.

I remain dubious about all these remakes of films which I have loved since I was a child, but with talent such as Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe also being involved in this series, I like to think that Universal won’t mess it them up too much…

Dr Lenera

Dr LeneraI'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
