Apparently Ewan McGregor is prone to talking about his wish to return to his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels quite often, though he told Parade earlier this year:

“I like the films that I made with George Lucas and I’m happy to be part of the legend of it all, but that’s it with me. I don’t really understand the fanaticism about it. I’ve been asked about it so much now that I’m being criticised for trying to persuade Disney to make this movie! I only responded to people asking me about it, and now it looks like I’m sort of looking for work, which is humiliating.”

So it’s actually other people putting ideas into your head Ewan, such as when you were interviewed by Premiere the other day while you were promoting your directorial debut American Pastoral.

“I’ve always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness’ first one. It would be fun to film that story now I’m older. I hope that they’re going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!”

I actually think there’s great potential in the idea and wouldn’t be surprised if it happens at some point, maybe with McGregor directing, though the response to American Pastoral hasn’t been that great so far.

Dr Lenera

Dr LeneraI'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
