Hot on the heels of the news that Disney are doing a live action remake of Mulan from a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, come reports that another film about the legendary Hua Mulan, the young female warrior who joins the Chinese Imperial Army and taking her ill father’s spot, is coming. It’s being made by Sony with a screenplay from Jason Keller which has just been finished. It already has a director attached in the form of Alex Graves who has made some Game Of Thrones episodes as well as episodes of Homeland and Shameless. This leads us to believe that this film will be very different indeed to the Disney one and may not be kid friendly at all.

According to Deadline, Sony’s version will be co-produced with the Chinese, and, like Disney’s, will star a Chinese lead, though there’s already been some predictable whinging from some about how wrong it is that a white person is directing the film.

Dr Lenera

Dr LeneraI'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
