‘AQUAMAN’ SCREENWRITER CONFIRMS THAT DC IS DEFINITELY STEERING TOWARDS THE LIGHTER STYLE OF MARVEL

Marvel and DC fanboys now have something else to argue over. Warner Bros, stung by the complaints from many about Batman V Superman being too gloomy and serious, tried to quickly make amends by having Suicide Squad undergo extensive reshoots last spring. The result was actually an unholy mess with no distinct tone, but it was still a huge hit, and DC now seem to be convinced that lighter and breezier is the way to go. Chatting with Aquaman screenwriter Will Beall, Collider were informed that:

“It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be really fun. What we’ve come up with and director James Wan especially — he has a really clear idea of the tone he’s going to have, and I think Aquaman is one that’s going to blow people’s minds, not just visually, but I think the story and the scope of it is really great”.

“I think Justice League again is, what you’re going to see — I hope I’m not going to get in trouble for saying this — but it’s much more fun, much poppier, than … I haven’t seen Wonder Woman yet, but Batman vs Superman was a little more somber. But Justice League is a lot more fun. And I think that feels to me like the direction those movies are heading now”.

I wonder what Zach Snyder has to say about all this…..

Wonder Woman is out on June 2nd, Justice League on November 17th and Aquaman on 5th October 2018.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
