IMDB To Close Down Message Boards

IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) have announced that they will be closing down their popular message board system on 20th February 2017.

The message boards, present on all the film titles, cast and crew pages, have long been a haunt for many film fans wanting to discuss certain aspects of a film or career whilst in other instances, it’s been used to profess love for an actor or actress or indeed hatred. Whilst trolls have indeed become commonplace amongst social media outlets and forums alike, it’s unclear whether this is the reason for the closure.

After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb’s message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic ~ IMDB Announcement

Like our once favourite haunt Empire, it will be sad to see the message boards at IMDB go as things shift into age of discussion via the likes of Facebook and Twitter. We like to still think there’s an outlet for message board discussion which is why we have our very own film forum to discuss everything from upcoming movies, our favourite cult classics and even other forms of entertainment such as gaming and books.

I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Silent Hill
