When Fede Alvarez’s very impressive Don’t Breathe became a major success at the box office, a sequel was announced soon after, and last November Alvarez said:

“The challenge obviously is we just don’t want to do the same movie again and just have 2 in it. I’d love to see the Blind Man on the screen do some other things. What’s going to happen with him in his life?”

But since then we’ve heard nothing about it. The in-demand Alvarez was announced as directing both The Girl In The Spider’s Web and the Labyrinth sequel, and many have been thinking that the sequel will now not happen at all. However, when a fan said to him on Twitter: “Please tell me there’s a Don’t Breathe 2 coming,” he replied: “There is.”

Now this doesn’t neccessarily mean that Alvarez willl actually direct. I wouldn’t be surprised if he let someone else take over that job and just oversaw the project, considering his busy schedule.

Now many fans of Don’t Breathe may disagree, but does the film really need a sequel at all? Do we really need to get to know the Blind Man a bit more and ruin his mystique? Hopefully the resulting film will prove me wrong but for the time being I can’t help feeling that we just don’t need this.

Dr LeneraI'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
