I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Silent Hill

  1. Open Water – I’m an avid swimmer and water lover but jeez this horrific story put me off going anywhere near the sea even on sun-soaked family holidays at the beach.

  2. I think wolf creek because the police did not put much effort into looking for the killer and Australia is a big place, plus the story seems to have a lot of merit.

  3. As there is always a scientific explanation for all things supernatural, I don’t get scared easily, and all movies that quote “based on true events” are just sensationalism at best. So all movies like The Conjuring, Blair Witch etc are just stories made to scare the bejesus out of the viewer, much like when you were a kid and you use to tell stories to each other.

  4. The Conjuring 2 was pretty damn creepy… maybe wasn’t such a good idea to watch it at home with all the lights out!

  5. The Hills Have Eyes. The film is based on the story of Alexander “Sawney” Bean. Bean was the head of a clan of cave dwellers in the 16th Century. The group lived in the caves for 25 years, and over those years, they trapped and consumed an estimated 1,000 people before they were found and killed.

  6. Fire In The Sky (1993) based on the alleged true story of alien abduction. It freaked me out when I saw it as a teenager.

  7. I thought when the lights went out was pretty creepy especially as its not far from where I live and the house is still supposed to be haunted today. They even rent rooms out to ghost hunters!

  8. It’s got to be Wolf Creek – although not directly taken from a true story, the head on a stick scene is one of the most grotesque things I’ve ever seen …
